Ta-Da Tuesday

I've been very busy crocheting over the last couple of days. I have big plans for our living room, I want to get it just right, so I'm starting with the little details...
I think they are rather pretty, and they are multiplying quickly...
Today I finished the crochet rag rug that I started ages ago, Brian has tested it out and seems to approve!
My next living room project is a crochet log basket. I have some red fabric to make into balls of yarn, so that should be fancy, and as I'm making it from scratch I can make it to the exact size for the space - the joys of handmade!

WonderWool Wales

I spent yesterday at WonderWool Wales, a huge wool and fibre event! There was so much to see, so many different colours and textures, and more crafty gadgets than I've ever seen in my life! I was pretty restrained when it came to shopping - I picked up two balls of gorgeous sock yarn, a pattern for a beautiful lace knit scarf and a fab WonderWool tote bag, but most importantly I have a head full of ideas!
There were lots and lots of lovely stands, full of beautiful things made by some jolly talented people, it was quite overwhelming! One of the highlights of the day was this amazing life-sized knitted garden from WoolyKnit. The whole thing is stunning, but the little details were fabulous, including knitted bees on a knitted bowl of fruit, and the basket of knitted veggies, and all of the little critters hiding in the little nooks and crannys!
There were also some rather lovely animal attractions, including sheep...

 and Angora bunnies!
So cute! It was a lovely day, so full of inspiration, and I can't wait to get started on my new scarf and more socks!

My Creative Space

I'm working on a nice big cosy cushion cover at the moment.
Today I finished the centres for the front! The pattern is very similar to the one over here, I made a blanket with this pattern last year and I absolutely love it! There will be 49 squares per side, and it should be about 70cms square. It's made almost entirely from recycled yarn, and the bits that aren't recycled are from my yarn stash, so it's a nice guilt free project!
The next round on each of these circles will be cream, so that's what I'll be doing next!
I'm joining in with My Creative Space, there's lots of lovely stuff going on over there this week.

Some New (Old) Things...

There's been little time for shopping of late, but that doesn't stop a few sneaky peeps in the charity shops as I pass by on my way to wherever I'm going...
I picked up this pretty little Italian mosaic brooch last Thursday - I must confess that I don't really know much about it other than I liked the colour and the sweet little flowers!
And something that I know a little bit more about - a vintage tea-cosy knitting pattern, and a bargain at only 50p! I am bursting to try out the middle one, I think my lovely green tea pot has been cosy-less for much too long!
Have you had any lovely little finds lately?!

Venturing Back Out into the World

“Spring is the time of plans and projects.” ―
Leo Tolstoy, Anna Karenina

I must confess that after weeks of being under the weather with one thing and another, and the depressingness of the actual weather, I have been more than a little bit lost. But this morning I ventured into the garden and there are finally some very encouraging signs of spring to bring me good cheer...

The tulips are arriving!
Beryl and Mabel are enjoying the sunshine

And the Cherry Blossom tree has started to flower at last. I feel like we are leaving behind a very long Winter, and I am embracing this good mood and planning an afternoon of working on new designs.

gemmipop vintage making

I made some very pretty cushions this afternoon! They are part of my gemmipop vintage range, made from gorgeous fabric with a cross-stitched rose. They really are quite delightful!

The fabric on the back is very pretty too, I am rather pleased with them!
I have plans to make more cushions over the next week, as well as lots of other new goodies, I can't wait to share!

My Creative Space

I've been busy over the last couple of days making some changes in my stall. I like to keep things looking fresh and interesting, so I've been moving things around and adding some new display stuff. Here's a peep at what it looks like now...
My new shelves for my little birds...

And re-arranging my gemmipop vintage goodies...
I've also put out some of the one-off jewellery that I've had stashed away...

Mushroom Brooch

 Silver Bangles
Silver and wood bangle and earrings
Tea leaf bangles
And yesterday I made some new charm bracelets...

 They are really very sweet!

My Creative Space

I've had a tea and crochet day today, after a busy week of gallivanting! I'm still working on my stripey blanket and it's at that lovely point where I can wrap up under it while I add new rows! It's very cosy!
I'm only using second-hand yarn for this blanket, most of it came from the charity shop that my lovely mother-in-law volunteers in, and I think it's going to be pretty splendid when it's done!
I'm joining in with My Creative Space this week!

Readings...March

I really don't know where the last month went! I only managed to finish three books in March, it's a bit of a shame to break my New Years Resolution so early, but I really just didn't seem to find any time to read!

So my books for March were...

  • "The Perks of Being a Wallflower" by Stephen Chbosky
  • "Bright Young Things" by Scarlett Thomas
  • "The Little Stranger" by Sarah Waters
Are you reading anything interesting? I'd love any recommendations!

A Trip to the Big City!

I had a really lovely little Easter break in London. I visited lots of my favourite places - The British Museum, Tate Modern and Tate Britain, The National Gallery, The Portrait Gallery and the Contemporary Applied Art Gallery, and had lots of time to relax!
I hope you had a nice couple of days too!
