There's been quite a bit of making going on today! I've made some stock to make sure that my shop is full for Christmas, and I've also been working on some new designs...
Owl Brooches - there are also earrings which I will be photographing when they're assembled...
And a variety of dog brooches, including Chihuahuas, Labradors, Spaniels, Staffordshire Bull Terriers, English Bull Terriers, Boxer Dogs and Basset Hounds, which will sit nicely with my Dachshund, Scotty and Greyhound brooches! I will be sharing photographs soon, and the dogs and owls will be in my Etsy shop and stall as soon as possible!
I also made a Badger brooch for a customer, it will be a Christmas present for a special Hufflepuff!
And while all of the new stock was quietly cutting out, I put up my fancy extra large Christmas Bauble. I spent Saturday evening working on it and I really do love it!
I have had a jolly week making Christmas goodies, but I haven't quite reached the end yet - it is Saturday evening and I am still sewing Robins!
I have had orders for nine of these little lovelies in the last two days, plus the special commission Robin that I made on Wednesday, so I am having to put in some overtime to get them all done and ready to go to their new homes! I really do love making them though so it's no hardship!
I had another evening of bauble making on Wednesday too...
I've had a busy week of making so far, and I thought I would share my progress!
Six Mini Christmas Tree Monsters
Ten Crocheted Baubles
A special commission Robin with a fancy purple chest
and twenty mini button monsters! It has been a very busy week, my plan for tomorrow is to cut out some Robins and yo-yo brooches, but tonight I am going to be working on socks - I think I deserve an evening off!
I've been stockpiling goodies ready for the festive season this week, and I have plans for lots of makings over the next week!
Today I finished lots of button monsters - There were seven regular monsters...
but I also made some fancy-pants ones...
They are the very first sideways monsters, but they also have something a little bit special -
They have dinosaurs on their backs! There are lots of customers with quite substantial monster families now, it's lovely to see the time that people take over picking the monster that is just right! I will be making mini monsters next week, as well as more Christmas tree decorations, and lots of brooches!
In September, "Fragile Things" by Neil Gaiman became the 52nd book that I finished in 2012. I was so pleased to have passed the total amount of books that I wanted to read in 2012 as part of my book a week plan! However, I only managed to finish two books in October.
Now I know it's silly, because I have already more than averaged a book a week, but I feel a little bit disappointed to have broken my resolution so late in the year! Like lots of other people that I've spoken to, I really don't know what happened to October - it seemed to be over as soon as it started!
So in October I read
"The Marriage Plot" by Jeffrey Eugenides
""Breakfast at Tiffany's" by Truman Capote
It must be the third or forth time that I've read "Breakfast at Tiffany's" now, it is one of my most favourite books, and I have nearly finished "Little Women", but I seem to have been reading that for ages now.
Looking on the positive, I have kept my resolution for most of the year, and really, I can't complain about not having time to read since I've had lots of lovely days out, lots of time making, and my stall is busy! And there's always 2013 to try again...
