Shopping List Saturday

I'm having a floaty kind of day today, so I thought my list should be a little bit dreamy... Lift by theaterclouds

Flowery Granny Squares!

I've just finished my second flower square - I think this will be a new obsession!

New Crochet Square

I wanted to try a new type of granny square with the lovely yarn that I got from the seaside, so last night I started this waterlily pattern from the "200 Crochet blocks" book.

I'm really pleased with how it came out! I don't have a huge amount of the yarn so I think I'm going to have to find something that works with it so that I can make something substantial - I'd like to make a blanket!

Kathrin Ollroge

While we were at the seaside on Monday we popped into Oriel Mostyn, and discovered the work of Kathrin Ollroge. Her work involves arranging and photographing miniature interiors. They are really beautiful and full of detail, and I wanted to share a couple of her images that I love...

Images from - there's lots of other beautiful images there!

My Creative Space

I'm a little bit early with my space this week, because tomorrow morning I have a meeting with an accountant and I am concerned that too much mathematics may squish the creativity out of me! So this is what I've been up to today - making more crocheted bunting!

This time I went for red, pink and white, I think it's kind of summery; like strawberries and cream. In the end it was made up of 6 triangles - 2 of each colour. It's quite pretty, and will be on sale on Saturday in my stall. It's been a lovely day - lots of nice people popping in to buy my bits and bobs, and to have a chat. I hope that means that it's a good place to visit, I like nice people!

I'm off to get all of my paperwork in a neat pile for tomorrow, but I would much rather be popping over to kootoyoo for more creative spaces!

Just a little update - the floral part of my sewing is done, now I just have to start filling in the white background!
I can't wait till it's finished!

Flea Market Finds

I'm late with my flea market finds this week, but that is because these are brand new finds from my trip to the seaside today! Myself and my lovely hubby have been to Llandudno on the north-west coast of Wales, it's one of our favourite places, and we had great fun mooching around the charity shops. So here are my finds from today...I got this fab sewing book, it has the sweetest illustrations and the instructions look really straightforward.I also got a fantastic floral fabric apron (which may or may not be meeting my scissors at some point), some pretty embroidered ribbon, and this gorgeous yarn which is cotton with silk - I got one ball of the blue and two of each of the others, and they were only 50p per ball!I almost skipped to the counter!

And as a little bonus, inside the sewing book there was this advert for various patterns - aren't they fab!?!

Lots of lovely things to play with, I already have a plan for the yarn, and I can't wait to get started!

Stitching Away!

My stitching is going quite well - particularly given that I have so little time to devote to it! I finished the second big rose last week and started the leaves on the lower left last night. I'm looking forward to finishing it so that I can start the back!

I have loads of ideas for new patterns - I saw lots of lovely things in London that have inspired me, but again, there aren't enough hours in the day! I hope to take a bit of time off in the next few days, so hopefully I can start working on some new things.

New Makings!

I've been making some new bits and bobs lately, I'm pretty pleased with them...And I've made green deers! So cute! All available now on Etsy, folksy and facebook!

These bracelets are brand new today; I was putting together some heart earrings when it occurred to me that they would be super cute on charm bracelets! The chain is silver, I think that it works well with the coloured hearts! They will be on sale in my stall from Wednesday, I hope they will be popular - I love them!

New Pincushion!

This is what I've been working on today in the stall; a spiffy new crocheted pincushion! I've been having a quiet day after my busy couple of days away, and since this was something I'd been thinking about I decided to have a go. I think it came out pretty well! I love the yarn, it's 100% cotton, and the button is one I've been hoarding for ages because it was so sweet, I think it finishes it perfectly!

London Trip

I haven't been to London since December, so I was very excited to tag along with my hubby for his work trip! I got to spend three days walking around; I visited the British Museum, Tate Britain and Tate Modern, the National Portrait Gallery, The National Gallery, The Natural History Museum, and for the first time The Petrie Museum of Egyptian Archaeology and the Grant Museum of Zoology. I really tried to do as much as possible! Here are some of my highlights...From the Petrie MuseumA Roman wall decoration in the British Museum

Ai Weiwei's unilever installation in Tate Modern

I've come home with a head full of ideas and things I want to work on, but for now I'm just catching up with everything!

Flea Market Finds

I'm very late this week with my Flea Market Finds, but it is a very pretty find indeed, so better late than never!I picked up this plate in a charity shop last week, as soon as I saw it I knew it was destined for display in my stall. I have made a small range of brooches for the Royal Wedding Celebrations and I thought this would be the perfect way to show them off!

Rescue Mission

I spent today working on something very unusual - something for myself! Yesterday I was given a bag of embroidery wool and silks, old patterns and some (what looked like) half finished tapestries by the very nice chappy who has a stall next to mine. He thought some of it might be of use to me, and he wasn't wrong! I unpacked it in a state of frenzied excitement, and was thrilled to find this very beautiful flowery tapestry (which is very similar to the ones I have been working on, for those of you who have been keeping up with my recent ramblings!). It was finished, with the exception of the bottom row, but the edges were all rough and creased and not so hot. I couldn't bear to see something so pretty left in such a state, so I decided that it was crying out to be a bag. So here it is, a new bag that's all set for my upcoming trip to London!

Apologies for the fact that this photo is pre-iron, but I was just to excited not to post pics right away! I have used the tapestry as the front pocket, it needs a button and popper to keep it closed so that's the next job on the list! I have lined the pocket with vintage pink floral fabric, and the bag itself is lined with vintage yellow floral fabric. One of the other stall holders was unimpressed with my choice of "clashing" patterns, but admitted that it worked when she saw the finished bag. I'm pretty pleased with it, it hangs really low and it's big enough that I can stash all of my stuff in it!

My Creative Space

Today I have been busy making some fancy new stock ready for the craft Market that is happening tomorrow in the square in Oswestry. It's a great opportunity for local people to see what their Market has to offer, so I thought it might be nice to have a special Royal Wedding range of brooches that are new for the event! They are variations on my current stock in red, White and blue, including yo-yo brooches and crocheted flowers.

I have also bought some very pretty pink cotton, which I am using to try something new. I am working on a pincushion design but I'm not sure how that's going to work yet!

I'm hoping for some sunshine tomorrow so that lots of lovely people will venture out to see us. I am sharing a table with some of the other lovely traders, and there are 20 other stalls confirmed! I hope it will be a fantastic day, and I have a pretty new dress to wear too!

Royal Wedding Bunting!

I wanted to give my stall a little Royal Wedding cheer, so over the last couple of weeks I've been crocheting away every time I have a spare moment! I've made two different sizes, the larger covers the entire length of my stall front! It's a jolly shame that we aren't having some kind of celebratory shindig, but I'm sure it will be a lovely day nonetheless!

New Shoesies and New Flowers!

Slight delay, but here are my cutesy new shoes! I couldn't resist getting both pairs, they're just so fab! I have been mooching about in the blue ones today, but I wore the red ones on Sunday. I like them. And, another slight delay, but here are some of the flowers that I have made with the jiggly urchin-looking yarn that I picked up on Thursday. Very soft and nice! I have some more to finish tomorrow, my green button jar is going to be in full use!

As a last little note, pop on over to see what lovely Lowri has been up to with her super crochet skills, I am ever so proud of her!

New Laser Cuttings

I seem to have lots of people enquiring about dog brooches at the moment, and so I thought it might be time to more actively advertise that I offer a commission service. So I've decided that I am going to devote a shelf in my cabinet to dogs, with a "best in show" type theme; this is what I've done so far in preparation... And these are my newest earrings, lots of little deers! I have listed them in my etsy, folksy and facebook shops, and they can be made in any colour! I have been wearing blue ones for a little while; I made them because I liked the idea, and people who have seen them seem to like them!
