My Creative Space

I've been working on getting together some inspiration books lately, just trying to accumulate some bits and bobs while I have time off!

All the work stuff is going well at the moment, I'm working on lots of design ideas and looking forward to getting back to making. I finished my crochet bag, and as I suspected, it is gigantic! I doubt I'll ever need a bag that's so big, but it's still really pretty.

Crochet Days...

I'm in the middle of several crochet projects at the moment, including a bag and a lap blanket. The bag is the project that I started with my lovely friend Amy on Tuesday in a cafe. Amy chose the pretty (and very soft) pastel shade yarn, whilst I chose the blue, orange and white yarn with sparkly strands all through it, but I ran out of that pretty quickly (I thought that 5 balls would be enough...) so I carried on with some very nice double knit. This is where I'm up to so far, it's really huge, but the pattern says that it should be 112 cm circumference at it's widest point, so I think I'm on track!

And my other half finished project, joining up my granny squares. I think they look pretty with the strong red edges. It's going to be a rectangle, 5x6 squares, so I now know I can get 30 squares out of two 100g balls of double knit wool. So, I'm off to try and get these projects finished, I'll be back to post pictures when they're done!

Friday Folksy Favourites!

I've had a little shop on Folksy for a while now, but I thought I would make Friday a day for showing some of my favourite things that I've found on there so far...
Lovely bits and bobs! I have lots more favourites, check back next week for some more!

Granny Squares!

In the run up to the New Designers Exhibition, I made sure that I had bag space left for a yarny project to take along, and planned to make granny squares. Best laid plans, and of course I ran out of wool mid-week!(Thanks Amy for taking this sneaky pic...) So I had a bit of a mission to find more yarn, and got to work on a new set of granny squares! I finished them off this weekend, and I am now joining them up, with a lovely deep red which compliments them nicely. I am off for a crochet day with Whirlwind Amy tomorrow, I'm really looking forward to it, we're making this bag!
It's lovely to be back on crochet and granny squares, and reading, which are some of the things I missed most in the hectic last months of my degree. Last week I devoured "The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society" which is a beautifully written story, and I have moved quickly onto "Miss Pettigrew Lives for a Day", I love the film and I'm sure I will enjoy the book too!

Shopping List Sunday

Here are some of the pretty things I've been admiring lately!

Flea Market Finds

My flea market finds this week are only small, but finds nonetheless. I found a copy of last months Country Living Magazine for 20p, and got ever so excited to see one of my favourite ceramicists featured...The lovely teapot (second from the left) and teacup and saucer (front) are by Virginia Graham, her work is just beautiful! I also found a very sweet writing set, which I was very pleased with as I have started writing letters again. It's lovely to have some free time!

My Creative Space

Well, I've been gone for an age but I'm back! My absence has been down to showing my work in the very exciting New Designers exhibition in London, so as I have been taking some time off recovering from my trip, I thought I would show some photographs of my creative space of last week...Giving my pieces on final polish before they were safely installed in the cabinet!

The view from the balcony over the other stands, and our stand, looking pretty I must say! These photographs all belong to my lovely friend Amy, who was much more committed to documenting the event than I was - Thanks Pickle!

It was a very exciting week, as well as the exhibition, we visited lots of galleries and museums, as well as spending as much time as was possible in Camden Market.
