Aside from jaunting around London, I have been doing some work! I have been making some slightly bigger yo-yo brooches, with all kinds of coloured and patterned fabric. I really love making them, and it's so lovely to have a great big space to work in! It was a quiet day on Friday in the stall, so I spread all of my fabric on the counter and set to cutting out some circles. I really enjoyed working there, and lots of people popped in to see what I was doing. Today I have had a day off, but tomorrow I will be getting some making done, I have some new ideas to get on with and I'll be finishing some things off. I am planning to make some of these Crochet Flower Rings to use in my stall as picture frames, the tutorial is fantastic, and they're ever so cute! I will also be preparing for the first of my "Crochet Christmas" sessions, which is on Friday, I hope lots of people will come along!

A Day Out In London

I had a lovely little day out in London yesterday! Hubby had a meeting, so I hopped on the tube for a shopping session at Camden Market. I was supposed to be buying Christmas presents, but mostly just bought stuff for myself. I absolutely loved the Mexican Folk Art stall which I found for the first time yesterday (not sure if it's new or I just missed it before, it's such a huge market!), and I took a sneaky pic on my phone, it was just amazing! From the market, I went over to see the Dazzle jewellery exhibition at the National Theatre on the South Bank. There were lots of familiar names, but some very exciting new stuff too, I particularly liked Jenny Llewellyn's silver and silicone pieces...

and also Kathryn Partington's beautiful textile pieces...
it's worth checking out the Dazzle website, there's some amazing work on show this year!
After Dazzle I went onto The National Gallery, The Portrait Gallery, and I spent the rest of the day in the British Museum. It was a very busy day but I had a lovely time!

Yo-Yo Brooches

This is the first batch of yo-yo brooches that I made this weekend. I particularly like the pink one, the hessian is puffs up really well! Today I have been making little pouch envelopes to put small brooches in, they're made from magazine fashion pages, I thought they would be ideal for the yo-yos and flowers.

I am going to be making some more yo-yos this afternoon, and starting some more button monsters!

Bunches of Flowers

Here are the flowers that I made yesterday, I love the feeling of finishing things and putting them straight on sale! My first week on the stall was fantastic, it's a really cosy little nook, and it feels very festive now that I have my Christmas tree up! This afternoon I am going to be making yo-yo brooches with hessian and gingham, and pretty buttons, I'll take some pics when they're done.

Stall Opening!

Saturday was the big Open Day on the stall, and it was lovely! I met lots of very nice people and crocheted between customers, and felt very pleased with my efforts at making the stall my own. So here's the finished stall...and the cabinet which I have decorated with fairy lights and mismatched crockery...and some lovely photographs that my hubby took of the stock inside my cabinet...

I am already looking forward to Wednesday, which is my next day open to the public, and tomorrow I will be in the stall painting the frame on a mirror that I picked up today, and attaching a garland that I have made to the ceiling.

My Creative Space

My Creative Space today is all about my stall! I have finally done all the making-pretty that I wanted to do, and I'm so pleased! All of the stock is out, everything that should be on the wall is on the wall, and I'm so pleased! The counter has a bunch of stock displayed in cake stands. This is the inside of the glass cabinet. I put some nice wallpaper in the back, because the fabric was looking a bit tired, so now it looks all fresh. I bought fairy lights so it could be lit up, and there's lots of snazzy stuff in there, all displayed on pretty teacups, dishes, bowls and vintage lace doilies that I have been collecting just for this purpose!

There's still a couple of odd jobs to do (battery for clock, bulb for lamp, plugs to wire...), but I'm ready to open on Saturday! I hope lots of people will come and say hello, I'm very excited and very scared!

Tweet Tweet...

After months and months and months of resisting, I am now a tweeter! I thought it might be handy now my stall is (almost) up and running to be able to update more regularly, so I will be tweeting as well as blogging!
So, with mention of the stall, here's a little taster of what I've been up to today!

My plant was a little thirsty this morning and had slightly droopy leaves, but hopefully it will perk up after the big drink I gave it when I arrived! The "Make Tea Not War" sign is a postcard. It made me smile, given that I am a serious tea addict.

These are the shelves my lovely Daddy put up for me, the top one has wooden hills on it to display my jewellery on, and the lower one has all of my jars of brooch backs and labels and all kinds of functional stuff. It's all looking very pretty! As well as that, I've been very busy, because I took all of the stock in and put it all out on display, I'm so excited, it all looks so lovely. I'm pretty tired now though!

Moving Day!

Today I moved all of my bits and bobs into the stall! I've got a bit of sorting and arranging to do yet but it's already ever so pretty!
The stall opens officially next Saturday, so I will have all of my stock installed and looking fabulous. I will take a bunch of photographs of the big day, and all the different things that I've done to make the place homely.

First Pics of the Stall!

I moved into my stall on Friday, and as promised, here are a couple of 'before' photos! It's a really big space, the counter is huuuugggge! The top had a really sweet red and white pattern on vinyl, but it was all scraped up so we had to take it off, and we've painted all the walls, just white to freshen it up. There's lots of little jobs to do, but I'm getting through them! One big job was the top of the stall looked like this...

The tops have been left open, I'm assuming that there was some kind of plan for false ceilings, but instead it was just left. So yesterday my dad came over and we put up some blue fabric to cover it up, and we also put up some shelves. The plan is to get more painting done tomorrow and start moving my stuff in on Saturday. It's already looking really good, I can't wait for it to be all up and running!
